Love this place. I work nearby so pop in here for a quick lunch a few times a month. The food is always good. Great selection of traditional Japanese dishes as well as sushi. I get the Charashi bowl quite frequently and it's an amazing amount of fish and seafood for the price. The bento lunches are good but I'd try the yakisoba or one the rice bowls. Eel is one of my favorites.

This was so good! I got the sashimi special which included 16 pieces of different kinds of sushi (2 pieces each). My family got the sashimi bowl which included various sushi types and rice. It also came with a miso soup and a potato salad which was definitely worth since the sashimi bowl meal was only $4 more than my sashimi special. I visit this plaza a lot so I will definitely be back soon!

Hello fellow yelpers and guests. Absolutely the friendliest and most delicious place I've ever been too. Wow. I don't think I've ever gave a business five stars but here it is. I definitely recommend. It's very humble relaxing atmosphere. So if you're looking for benihanas or a very dancy place then this place is not for you. But if your looking for fresh outstanding food with the most awesomest presentation then this is the place for you. I put my reputation on this place.

I have been to this restaurant so many times. Their food is authentic, not expensive and never disappoints me. Service is great as well. My favorite is chirashi bowl. It comes with many side dishes which are delicious too. I recommend this restaurant to everyone who likes Japanese food.

Plenty of parking in the parking lot. Service is very friendly and the restaurant is clean. Once you walk in the door, it feels like you're transported to an authentic Japanese restaurant in the middle of Japan. I ordered the Burdock Tempura Udon for lunch, and this was delicious and super filling. It came with a side salad and a sushi roll as well. Prices are very reasonable. I can't wait to come back and try other menu items.

Thank you for another great meal. Both Chirashi Don and Uni don were very generous in portion and delicious. Miso soup, potato salad and pickled vegetables all accompanied the rice bowls perfectly. Uni was fresh and sweet! All the sashimi cuts on top of Chirashi sushi were all very uniquely tasty. 全部、美味しかったです! Fast and friendly service. Always enjoy dining here!

Japanese curry was the standout here and came with miso and side salad! Udon was alright. Very hole in the wall type space. Restaurant was packed on a Friday night but not overwhelmingly so. Our server was friendly and helped my friend understand any red meat dishes to avoid. Affordable and tasty!

Stumbled in here for lunch one day with my fiancé and we were pleasantly surprised. They offer tons of different types of Japanese food and it was really good. We shared some sushi and my fiancé got one of the lunch specials. The prices were fair and the food was good! The salmon belly nigiri literally melted in my mouth and had no 'fishy' order or taste. SO GOOD. Our server was very nice and the ambiance was mellow. This place isn't fancy looking or 'trendy' but the food is good, which is refreshing. We will definitely be back to try one of the curries! We saw someone else order it and it looked and smelled great.

We love coming here and always come right when they open at 5pm because this place gets crowded. We ordered: -Chicken karaage - juicy thigh meat -Sukiyaki udon- when I crave for udon, I come here. The broth is so beefy and lots of tender fatty thin meats. It's so rich in flavors. -Takoyaki - I like that this is on the smaller side because it's less wheat flour and more octopus. -Fried meatloaf curry entree - It comes with miso soup and salad. The miso soup is so good. We got spice level 8 for the curry which had a tiny kick. The parking lot is super tight and small that people park on the street. Another reason why we come early is to get a parking spot.

Really yummy, authentic Japanese food! Came here for lunch with friends on a weekend, it wasn't too busy at all. I ordered the salmon bowl, the salmon sashimi pieces were thick, and almost buttery, so good! The rice was an unexpected star of the show, it had a slightly sweet flavor and paired so well with the salmon. The side dishes, particularly the miso soup and tofu, were equally yummy too! We also tried the tempura bowl, which came with shrimp tempura and vegetable tempura. The dish itself had excellent flavors but the tempura was soggy, which was a minor hiccup in an otherwise outstanding meal. Overall, I was surprisingly really impressed with Izakaya Sakura's genuine Japanese food. The combination of fantastic flavors and warm ambiance makes it a must-visit spot for anyone seeking an authentic Japanese culinary experience in San Diego.
